Description
For those of you looking for a discounted Costa del Sol property bargain, then Palm Gardens set a couple of minutes drive inland from the coastline roughly halfway between the delightful towns of San Pedro Alcántara and Estepona in an green area bordering the Guadalmansa river is one of the ‘hidden’ residential gems of the Costa del Sol.
A winding country lane took me from the N-340 coast road past a sprinkling of villas, large private fincas and open fields to the complex itself, where I parked up in one of the many of the street side parking bays.
From here you can not only appreciate the peaceful beauty of the countryside all around, but also the simple linear aesthetics of the complex’s architectural design – typically Andalucian white washed walls, blended with bare bricks and wrought iron fencework to create a clean, modern and stylish feel.
Entering the complex via the main (wrought iron!) security gate, it was clear that this is a community that likes to keep its landscaped garden areas neat and tidy. And no wonder they appear so pristine, when the team from the local garden centre Agrojardin is charged with the responsibility.
There are a range of 2-bedroom ground and first floor apartments, 3 bedroom second floor apartments, plus three 3-bedroom duplex penthouses on sale here.
According to the developers, the units sold so far are used by their mainly Spanish owners as holiday homes, with only a handful of owners in permanent residency.
Having taken a look at the various different apartment types available, I can tell you that the 2 and 3 bedroom ground, first and second floor properties all feature reasonably-sized living areas, cream marble floors throughout and boast fully-fitted kitchens with Bosch appliances and a small laundry cupboard.
The bedrooms comes with fitted wardrobes whilst the bathrooms boast marble tiles and modern fixtures and fittings.
The ground floor apartments all have compact covered exterior terraces with bare brick supporting pillars and direct access out to the communal gardens and pool area.
Owners have permission from the community to enclose their terraces with sliding glass partitions, and some have already done so to create a sizeable extra interior living space.
The pool meanwhile is large enough for those who enjoy a spot of ‘serious’ swimming, built in an unusual ‘L’ shape and bordered by stylish wooden decking on two sides, with sun loungers available to soak up those glorious southern Spanish rays.
Without doubt, the most outstanding property on sale here is a 3-bedroom duplex penthouse that’s actually been achieved by merging 2 penthouses together.
In doing so, the developers have created a very spacious living space indeed, with expansive lower and upper terraces offering great views of the complex’s gardens, the surrounding countryside and beyond to the sea.
Luxurious touches in the kitchen of this property include a large built-in wine cooler, a built-in coffee machine and a large American-style fridge.
There are also a couple of extra rooms on the upper terrace, which could easily be converted to office spaces or additional bedrooms.
